Our Team

SGD-Uganda leadership team is headed by an Executive Director who is responsible for policy making and monitoring the progress of programme implementation, ensures accountability to donors and other stakeholders. He also oversees compliance to the organizational vision and mission. The executive board is composed of technical people in the areas of, gender, legal, human resource development, given this expertise; they also provide and advise on the strategic direction for the organization. The organization has a total of 7 (seven) highly technical staff with vast experience in the areas of social works and social administration, project planning and management.


Francis KabagambeBoard Chair

Francis is a co-founder of SGD-Uganda and has continued to play the role of programme development and organization sustainability. He has over 10years experience working with Non-profit organizations.

He is passionate about good governance and empowered society in the spheres of human rights, economic indecency and civil participation.


Francis is a Managing Partner at Barclay & Associates Ltd Uganda, a general consultancy firm based in Kampala Uganda, also the Regional Director, East Africa of Stichting Uruma, a Netherlands based International Humanitarian NGO .He was previously the Accountant of Hoima School of Nursing & Midwifery and a Project Coordinator at Family Life Programme at the Uganda Catholic Secretariat respectively

Habiba Nakanwagi – Team Leader

Habiba Nakanwagi is a graduate of Development Studies from Makerere University and before assuming the position of Team Leader at SGD Uganda, she was previously working as a project coordinator in charge of the student community and her core duty was to mobilize and organize students activity engagements and she posses vast experience in mobilization and grassroot organizing.

She was previously the projector coordinator at Cornerstone Development in charge of coordinating project activities with Kampala City Authority departments.

Gesa Mike Munabi – Founder & Programme Advisor

Gesa Mike Munabi, the Founder & Programme Advisor is actively involved in youth leadership and community development both at local, national and international level. Mike studied Developmental Studies.

At a micro-level, he has been actively involved in engaging young people, principally the students in the democratization process of their nation and the outside world. Besides, he is also the Country Director for Stichting Uruma Uganda; a Netherlands based Humanitarian International NGO with headquarters in Boxtel, Netherlands, and the co-founder and Programme Advisor of Youth Compassion for Humanity Uganda, a humanitarian NGO based in Uganda

Mike also studied a Certificate course in Public Administration from Makerere University, Uganda, a sustainability studies certificate course at ETH Zurich – University of Zurich, Switzerland and Certificate course in Peace Education from Transcend University

Peter Kafuko Waiswa – Head of Programmes

Peter is a Masters’ student of Peace Studies at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and pursued a bachelor degree in Development Studies & Democracy at Nkozi University in Uganda.

Currently, Peter is working as the Coordinator, COVID-19 Emergency Response, Programme of Cooperation, hosted by the Lutheran Church of Uganda, prior to this function; he was the Manager, Disaster Response and Management, Programme Advisor at Students for Global Democracy Uganda.

He previously worked as the Senior Program Officer at Caritas Jinja under the Jinja Arch Catholic diocese, Uganda and Early Warning Specialist at Action Aid Denmark in Kenya attached to Centre for Conflict
Resolution in Kenya.

Judith Saala Balungi


Judith is the Financial Officer at Students for Global Democracy Uganda. With her over 5 years experience in financial accounting and management, she studied a higher diploma in Business Administration from Makerere University Business School Jinja, Certificate in Information, Communication & Technology (ICT) attained from Bethel Training Institute Jinja and she is currently pursuing bachelors’ degree in Business Administration Makerere University Business School Kampala Campus.


Prior to joining SGD Uganda, Judie was working with Thaji Logistics Limited as their Accounts Assistant and Lion Care Garage as an Administrator

 Patrick Paul Ssali – IT Manager

Patrick is a holder of a Bachelors degree of Science in Information Technology from Uganda Christian University and a Masters student of Information Security and Digital Forensics  at University of East London.

Patrick has worked with  Local Government of Uganda as a Consultant, Xpat Technologies Ltd as a Chief Technology Officer(CTO), Kaino Africa as a Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

In Democratic Republic of Congo he works with Global Trucks Logistics as IT Consultant.


Patrick is passionate about technology driven social change.
